Tianjin, a port city on the shores of the Bohai Sea with over 13 million inhabitants, is one of the largest cities in the People's Republic of China. It is located at the northern end of the Chinese Grand Canal and is the most important manufacturing centre and the main port of North China. As one of China's largest trading hubs, it opened China's first high-speed railway in 2008, the Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway, with trains travelling at over 300 km/h. The symbol of the city is the Tianjin Eye, an approximately 120-metre high Ferris wheel built above the Yong-Le Bridge over the Hai River. The leading tourist attractions are the Water Park, the largest urban park and recreation area in Tianjin, and the Tianjin Museum, which looks like a swan spreading its wings. The city is also known for its radio and television tower, which is the eighth tallest tower in the world, over 400 metres tall.
