Air Serbia commences Trieste service today
2 June 2022

Today, at 18:05 on 2 June, Air Serbia will commence direct flights between Belgrade and Trieste with flight JU464. Flights to the Serbian national airline’s fourth destination in Italy, after Rome, Milan and Venice, will be operated two times a week.

The inauguration flight will be welcomed with a traditional water salute at Ronchi dei Legionari international airport, which is located near Trieste, and covers an area with approximately five million people, including neighbouring Slovenia, Austria and Croatia. Representatives of Air Serbia and the airport will attend the official ceremony marking the occasion.

"We are pleased to continue to expand our network by strengthening our presence in Italy and are convinced the new flights will contribute to even better connectivity and improvement of commercial and tourist activities between our two countries. We are especially glad to connect Belgrade with Trieste, a city with a large Serbian diaspora, after an 11-year pause," said Bojan Aranđelović, Head of Network Planning & Scheduling at Air Serbia.

The former port of the Habsburg monarchy, almost completely surrounded by Slovenia, is isolated from the rest of the Italian peninsula and is adorned with rich architecture modelled after Austrian cities. By including Trieste in its network, Air Serbia will improve connectivity of nearby Slovenian cities, and the area of northeastern Italy with Belgrade and numerous other cities in its network.

Marco Consalvo, CEO of Trieste Airport, added: "We are glad to expand our network thanks to this new flight by Air Serbia, that will definitely contribute to improve the economic relations of our region with the Republic of Serbia as well as serve the large Serbian community living in our area."

The flight schedule of this service is designed to provide seamless connections with numerous cities in Air Serbia’s network, via Belgrade, such as Athens, Dubrovnik, Istanbul, Larnaca, New York, Podgorica, Skopje, Thessaloniki, Tirana and Tivat.

After Trieste, Air Serbia will launch services to two more destinations in Italy in the coming days - Bologna and Bari.
