Air Serbia started flights to Bologna and Nuremberg

06 June 2022

Today, on 6 June, Air Serbia started direct flights on the new route between Belgrade and Bologna in Italy with flight JU550 at 06:50, while flight JU260, carried out with an Airbus A319 aircraft, began the scheduled service between the Serbian capital and Nuremberg in Germany at 07:10.

The inauguration flights were welcomed at Guillermo Marconi Airport, located seven kilometers from the center of Bologna, as well as at Albrecht Dürer Airport, located five kilometers north of the center of Nuremberg, which is the second busiest airport in Bavaria. Representatives of the Serbian national airline and the airports attended the official ceremonies organized on that occasion.

Air Serbia will operate flights to Bologna, its sixth destination in Italy, to which there were no direct flights from Belgrade before, three times a week - on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Flights to Nuremberg, the eighth Air Serbia destination in Germany, in addition to Berlin, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Dusseldorf and Hanover from Belgrade, as well as Frankfurt-Hahn and Cologne from Niš, will be operated twice a week - Mondays and Fridays.

"After establishing flights to Trieste and Bari in Italy, as well as Hanover in Germany, we are glad to further strengthen our presence in those countries. Thanks to the latest expansion of our network, we will make tourist and business travel significantly more convenient and contribute to strengthening ties with Italy and Germany, which are traditionally very interesting destinations for our passengers", said Bojan Aranđelović, Head of Network Planning & Scheduling at Air Serbia.

Bologna, the capital of the richest Italian province of Emilia-Romagna, is home to the oldest university in Europe, a place of learning for Dante, Petrarch, Copernicus and many other important historic persons. The student and culinary capital of Italy, which is, due to the specific colour of the facades, also known as the ‘city of terracotta’, has a historic centre which is protected by UNESCO, with remarkable towers and porticoes over the streets.

By introducing flights to Bologna, Air Serbia will provide good connections between this city and other destinations in its network, such as Athens, Bucharest, Zurich, Dubrovnik, Istanbul, Larnaca, Podgorica, Sarajevo, Skopje, Sofia, Thessaloniki, Tirana and Tivat.

As the second largest city in the German state of Bavaria, Nuremberg is one of the leading trade fair locations in Europe, as well as the cultural and economic center of the Franconia region. Also, in this city full of history and tradition, some of the world's most famous companies are located.

The flight schedule on the Belgrade-Nuremberg route is designed to provide convenient connections, via the Serbian capital, with numerous cities in the Air Serbia network, such as Athens, Bucharest, Dubrovnik, Istanbul, Larnaca, Podgorica, Sarajevo, Skopje, Thessaloniki, Sofia, Split, Tirana and Tivat.
