Air Serbia commemorates 90 years since first flight

- "Conquering the World’s Skies" book to be released in celebration of anniversary
Air Serbia, the national airline of Serbia, is this week celebrating the 90th anniversary of its first-ever flight.
Established under the name "Aeroput", the Serbian flag carrier operated its inaugural flight on 15 February 1928 between Belgrade and Zagreb.
On that day, a Croatia-bound Potez 29 biplane named "Beograd" took off from the Serbian capital at 9am, carrying a group of five journalists and photographers to document the historic event.
After a two-hour flight and several laps over Zagreb, the aircraft touched down to a warm reception in the city, before returning later in the afternoon.
Duncan Naysmith, Chief Executive Officer of Air Serbia, said: "We are very proud to be celebrating 90 years since our first flight took to the skies, a special milestone that only a handful of airlines in the world have reached.
Since that flight, our business has undergone many changes, but one thing has remained the same – our willingness to adapt, grow and innovate.
It’s through this spirit that we have recently launched our new fare structure, representing a fundamental shift in the way that travelers can now personalize and tailor their journeys with Air Serbia."
At the end of January 2018, Air Serbia introduced a new fare structure consisting of four fare types – Economy White, Economy Blue, Economy Red and Business Silver – which offer travelers varying benefits and can be further customized through the purchase of optional services such as Priority Boarding or Fast-Track.
To celebrate the 90th anniversary of its inaugural service, Air Serbia will be releasing a limited-edition book, titled "Conquering the World’s Skies", at the beginning of March.
Featuring never-before-seen historical photographs, the book looks back at the last 90 years of developments at the national airline and the civil aviation industry in Serbia.
