Air Serbia launched a national programme of strategic cooperation with a broad range of educational institutions with the aim of establishing a close match between students' knowledge and skillsets and the requirements of the labour market in Serbia through a series of specific joint activities. The programme also aims to offer Air Serbia and other companies the opportunity to identify and select students within required educational profiles as strong candidates for immediate or future employment.
The programme was announced and presented today at an event at the Faculty of Organisational Sciences in Belgrade, where the first Memorandum of Cooperation within the programme was signed with this institution of high education.
The programme will be gradually rolled out with numerous other educational institutions at various levels of education, offering degrees in specific fields, including economy, business administration, hospitality and tourism, mechanical and electrical engineering, traffic sciences and piloting. The objective of the cooperation is to implement specific activities with an educational, practical and developmental aspect.
Dane Kondić, Air Serbia CEO, said: "From the outset, we are dedicated to the development of our workforce, knowing that our future depends on our employees and that they are our most important resource. Their ability to resolve the challenges of our business environment will determine the success of our company. This is why we would like to contribute to the development of those capabilities that will truly be most valuable both to future employees and the companies they will work for. We also look forward to implementing this programme in the belief that as a responsible company we must actively help the young generations to build their future, as they are a key pillar of our society and our community. We are pleased to share our knowledge and experience with them, and will carefully consider the possibility of giving the most successful students a chance to join our team and to work together with us in achieving the ambitious objectives of our airline".
Each module will be clearly defined and comprise student internships, lectures and workshops led by Air Serbia managers, periodically organised visits to Air Serbia, work on real-world projects, and company employee mentorship in writing research papers and theses.
Throughout the programme, students will learn from a series of practical lectures that will be held by Air Serbia's managers, who will share their experience through situational analyses, case studies and the resolution of specific problems. Work on a real-world projects will offer another option for students to face practical tasks and problems, and to participate in resolving them, while through the research paper programme they will be able to analyse all aspects of the research topic they are tackling, knowledge which they will able to use in their further educational development.
Among the most involving activities will be the opportunity for students to enhance their knowledge and skills through an internship programme at Air Serbia, where they will have the opportunity to work together with experienced managers. The student internship programme will aim to develop practical knowledge within various sectors of the company, depending on the educational profile of the students, while the airline's employees will be able to implement current projects together with the students in a combined scientific and practical approach.
