Air Serbia flies into Bucharest
10 December 2013
Air Serbia, the national airline of Serbia, operated its inaugural flight from Belgrade to Bucharest today marking the start of daily non-stop services to the capital city of Romania.
The service celebrates the resumption of flights between these two historic cities in a period that spans 14 years, following the last flight in 1999.
The Bucharest flights offer excellent connections through Air Serbia's Belgrade hub at Nikola Tesla Airport to many important destinations across Europe, including Stockholm, Rome, Vienna, Copenhagen, Brussels, Dusseldorf, Prague, Stuttgart, Ljubljana, Zurich, Milan and Berlin. The flight schedule has also been structured to provide good inbound connection times for passengers from Australia and Abu Dhabi to Bucharest.
Dane Kondić, Air Serbia Chief Executive Officer, said: "Air Serbia is proud to be able to re-establish flights between the cities of Belgrade and Bucharest with a daily service after 14 years. While we believe that there is great potential for tourism flows between Serbia and Romania with this new route, holidaymakers and business professionals alike can now take advantage of convenient daily flights. More importantly, the new service provides two way connectivity over Belgrade between Bucharest, mainland Europe and key global destinations."
There has been strong demand for the new Air Serbia Bucharest flights, with a good mix of point-to-point bookings as well as through-traffic that will see people travelling beyond the Belgrade hub.
In the summer months, the new route to Bucharest will be operated by the airline's A319 aircraft as Air Serbia rapidly modernises its fleet.
