Air Serbia Sky Au Pair service proves a hit with families travelling across Atlantic

27 July 2016

Air Serbia’s new Sky Au Pair inflight childcare service has received great praise from families following its introduction on the airline’s Belgrade-New York route in June.

The complimentary service is designed to make the transatlantic flying experience more enjoyable for families by providing parents with a “helping hand” with their children.

Nearly 100 Air Serbia cabin crew have completed the training course for the role at the Etihad Airways Training Academy in Abu Dhabi, which includes topics on child psychology to enable the Sky Au Pairs to interact effectively with children of various ages and stages of development.

During the ten hour flight time between Belgrade and New York, the Sky Au Pairs engage with children through games and activities, as well as assist parents in preparing young travellers for sleep.

Each Sky Au Pair can be recognised by her bright red apron and Sky Au Pair kit, which is packed with fun items such as coloured paper, aviation-themed stickers, plastic safety scissors and glue that can be used for arts and crafts activities.

In addition, the Sky Au Pairs are equipped with crayons, a colouring book featuring an eagle mascot and a face-painting set to ensure children are occupied throughout the long-haul flight.

Dane Kondić, Chief Executive Officer of Air Serbia, said: “We’re delighted by the glowing feedback we’ve received for our Sky Au Pair service, which has made the New York flight much more comfortable for families.

“Our Sky Au Pairs have been specially-trained to make flying with Air Serbia fun and exciting for the little ones, as well as less stressful for the parents and other passengers, ensuring that all on board are happy when the plane touches down.

“We want all our guests, including our youngest travellers, to have the best possible experience when flying across the Atlantic with Air Serbia, and our Sky Au Pair service fits perfectly into this vision.”

In addition to the Sky Au Pair service, children can catch up on their favourite cartoons and TV shows, play games and watch the latest blockbuster animations and family movies from the comfort of their seats, which are equipped with an inflight entertainment system.

The flight between New York and Belgrade is operated five times a week on a two-cabin Airbus A330 aircraft with 254 seats.
