Ten years of Air Serbia

26 October 2023

Air Serbia, the national carrier of the Republic of Serbia, today marks the tenth anniversary of launching operations under a new name and with a new visual identity on 26 October 2013. In the first decade, the company’s operations were completely transformed. The number of destinations in its network doubled, and now Air Serbia operates passenger and cargo flights to over 80 scheduled and charter destinations in Europe, the Mediterranean, North America, Asia, and Africa. Three long-haul destinations were added – New York, Tianjin, and Chicago. The company’s fleet was completely renewed and currently consists of two wide-body Airbus A330-220, 13 narrow-body aircraft from the Airbus A320 family, and seven turboprop ATR aircraft for regional flights. During the week in which it marks its anniversary, Air Serbia exceeded the number of 3.5 million passengers carried since the start of the year, and the record of 4 million passengers carried in a single year could be broken by the end of 2023, which is more than triple compared to the last year before Air Serbia was launched. In the past decade, Serbia’s national carrier performed over 310,000 flights in total and carried over 25 million passengers.

Air Serbia is celebrating 10 years of operations with numerous activities and upgrades, including the modernization of the company website, the introduction of new boarding music, as well as a special postal stamp designed in cooperation with the PUE Post of Serbia in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the national airline. A series of promotional activities were organized throughout October in several cities across Serbia under the slogan “10 years we cherish your memories”, and a special light installation on the Belgrade Tower is planned for tonight. Air Serbia has prepared another innovation in its operations, which will be made known to everyone who will fly with the Serbian national airline starting tomorrow.

“The past 10 years have helped us become stronger and better prepared for the future. We are entering a new decade of operations as a regional leader. With the youngest fleet in the region, over 1,400 employees and a clearly defined sustainable development strategy, we are moving forward at an even faster pace, ready to adapt to any change in the market, operate profitably and constantly upgrade our service in the interest of our passengers. I want to thank all our passengers who placed their trust in us over the past 10 years. We hope that in the future, we will continue to create memories together”, said Air Serbia CEO Jiri Marek.

In 2023, which is its 10th year of operations, Air Serbia has broken all records in terms of operated flights and destinations in its network. Since the start of the year, the national airline has launched 22 new destinations and performed over 36,000 flights. Preliminary financial results show that in the first half of the year, the company made a profit of 22.4 million euros, which is almost the same as the profit for the entire 2022.
