WHERE TO STAY?
Special nature reserve - ZASAVICA
Conservation of original landscapes, authentic folklore features and cultural and historical monuments make Zasavica a unique and complete tourist destination.
Zasavica can boast of as many as 192 species of flora and fauna that are completely unique in Serbia, and some of them in the whole world. In the animal world, probably the most interesting is the beaver, and you will see herds of Mangalica pigs and Podolian cattle, a donkey farm and a mini zoo.
In the restaurant "Bircuz kod dabra" you can taste sausages and bacon from mangalica, sausage from donkey meat, but also milk and dairy products from the donkey. Among the activities on offer are sport fishing, a ride on the tourist boat Umbra or a rented boat through Zasavica, or a photo safari.
Among the catering facilities you will find: Bircuz kod dabra and an ethno-room with a canopy as an ethnographic-historical display of traditional household and agricultural articles and tools from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. The entire space is available to visitors 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, because there is always a custodian present who guards the facilities and welcomes guests.
WHAT TO SEE?
The nature reserve contains a wooden building with a 18-metre tower from where you can get a magnificent overview of the whole reserve and take beautiful photos.
A special experience in the reserve is provided by the tourist ship "Umbra", which can seat up to 60 visitors.
The boat sails on a 7 km waterway through the most beautiful part of the reserve.
Guests are presented with a view of the widest part of the river Zasavica, and on its banks a meadow followed by a complex of floodplain forests, so that both wetland birds and a large variety of forest bird species can be seen in flight.
The boat ride takes about 40 minutes, with expert information on the species that can be seen here.
If you are more in the mood for a solo adventure, you can rent a wooden punt with a pole, and explore the waters of Zasavica on your own.
