To avoid any potential inconvenience or loss due to baggage irregularities, we recommend you to take out travel insurance before your journey.
In case of any irregularity with your baggage, please report it immediately upon landing to the local Baggage Delivery/Lost and Found Service before leaving the airport.
Checked-in baggage should not include
The following items should not be carried in checked-in baggage:
- jewelery and precious metals
- computers and electronic devices
- stocks, bonds and business documents
- passports, personal and irreplaceable documents
- items of art
- perishable items and fragile items
- other items of value that cannot be easily replaced if lost or damaged.
These items should be carried in hand baggage under your care.
However, if you decide to carry any of these items in your checked-in baggage, it will be at your own responsibility and risk. In that case, we strongly recommend you to take travel insurance before your journey.
Limited Release Bag Tag
Air Serbia shall issue Limited Release Baggage Tag for fragile, other inadequately-packed items and perishable items. Baggage with pre-existing damage shall also be accepted as a Limited Release Baggage. The Limited Release Baggage Tag releases the airline from liabilities resulting from any pre-existing damage or unsuitability for transport.
Lost Hang Baggage
Air Serbia shall not be held liable for the loss of hand baggage. If you lose your hand luggage, please report it while you are still at the airport so that we can support you in tracing the lost baggage.
Notes on Limited Liability
Air Serbia adheres to the Montreal Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules for International Carriage by Air which defines the limited material liability of the carrier for the delayed, damaged, destroyed and lost checked baggage as stated in General conditions of carriage and Terms and Conditions of Carriage US/CA.
We are very sorry that your baggage has not arrived and assure you that we will do our best to return it to you as soon as possible. Please report that your baggage has been delayed immediately upon arrival, before leaving the arrivals area at the airport.
Travel documents needed in case of baggage irregularities
In case you notice an irregularity with your baggage you will need the following documents to file a report:
- Airline ticket
- Baggage tag receipt
- Boarding pass
Once received please be sure to include your Passenger Irregularity Report (PIR) in case of delay of baggage or Damaged Pilferage Report (DPR) in case of damage to baggage, to support any future claim or correspondence.
Report a baggage delay
If you discover upon arrival that your baggage is missing, please go immediately to the Baggage Claim/Lost and Found Office at the airport and complete a Passenger Irregularity Report (PIR). You will be given a copy of the report, which you need to retain until the baggage has been returned and all possible claims settled.
The airport where you filed the report is responsible for locating your baggage and will have the latest updates on their search.

Essentials in case of delayed baggage
We understand that during the time you baggage is delayed you are away from home and may require some essentials (e.g. toothpaste and shampoo). Please keep all your receipts and submit them online.

Report lost baggage
If your baggage has still not been located within 21 days, you can submit a compensation claim.
In order to for us to process this claim, please submit all the requested documentation including your Passenger Irregularity Report (PIR) issued by the Baggage Claim/Lost and Found Office at the airport.

Notes on limited liability
Air Serbia has limited liability for checked baggage which arrives late or is lost. In the aviation industry, compensation is limited in accordance with the Montreal Convention, as stated in our Conditions of Carriage and Terms and Conditions of Carriage US/CA.
Air Serbia assumes no liability for delayed baggage that is reported after you have left the arrivals hall at the airport.
In many cases, your personal travel insurance company can assist you with further support in the case of lost or delayed baggage. Most insurance policies cover loss on the basis of the value of the property while, in the aviation industry, only a limited compensation per person is customary. If you have purchased travel insurance, please contact your insurer directly to learn more.
If you notice that your baggage has been damaged, please report this immediately upon arrival, before leaving the airport.
Report damaged or missing items
If you notice when collecting your checked baggage that it is damaged or that some items are missing, please report it immediately after landing to the local airport baggage service / Lost and found baggage, in order to make a "Damage Property Report" (DPR ). You will then receive a copy of this Report with the appropriate reference number. You need to keep the stated report to be able to track your claim, but also, based on it, to file a damage claim.
If you notice that your checked baggage is damaged or that some items are missing only after leaving the airport, you must report this to the local airport baggage services / Lost and found baggage at the place of arrival, in order to make a " Damage Property Report " (DPR).
Also, you need to submit a Damage Claim to Air Serbia.
Please note that the " Damage Property Report " (DPR) should be made before submitting the Damage Claim to Air Serbia.
The damage claim must be submitted no later than 7 days from the date of the collection of the baggage. Damage claims received after this deadline will not be considered.
If, only after leaving the airport, you noticed that your baggage has been damaged or that some items are missing, please note that you are obliged to prove that the damage to your baggage was incurred while it was under the control of Air Serbia.

Notes on Limited liability
Air Serbia does not accept liability for damage to baggage that has been caused by normal wear and tear which includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Minor cuts, scratches, scuffs, dents, dirt and stains
- Damage to inappropriately packed items, including fragile items
- Damage due to over packed baggage
- Loss of external locks, pull straps, security straps or zipper tabs
- Items confiscated by airport or security authorities
Air Serbia shall neither bear any liability for damage indicated at check-in through the Limited Release process, or for:
- Fragile, valuable or perishable articles
- Baggage which is packed in damaged or unsuitable containers
- Loss of jewellery, other valuables and money contained in checked baggage
- Damage to hand baggage, unless such damage has been caused by Air Serbia’s negligence.
Air Serbia shall be liable for damaged baggage to a limited extent in accordance with Montreal convention as stated in our Conditions of Carriage and Terms and Conditions of Carriage US/CA.
